PoE 2 Loot Filter Guides
Use these guides to create a Path of Exile 2 loot filter, put the exported file into the game, and choose useful visual and sound alerts. The instructions follow controls available in LootBase, so you can apply each step in the editor.
Create your filter
Open a category such as Currency, Fragments, Gems, Uniques or Bases. Select an item to decide whether it should Show or Hide. For shown items, preview the text, border, background, beam and minimap marker before moving to another category.
When the rules look right, use the output area to copy the filter text or save it as a .filter file. The exported file uses English Path of Exile 2 filter commands and BaseType values, even when you edit with another interface language.
The creation guide walks through category settings, visibility, alerts and export in order. Start there if you are building your first filter or revising a larger set of rules.
Use the file in game
The game reads the exported .filter file, not the editable settings in your browser. Save the file in the Path of Exile 2 item-filter folder and select it under Options → Game → Item Filter.
If the filter is missing from the game menu, check the folder and make sure the filename ends in .filter rather than .filter.txt. After changing the filter in LootBase, save the updated file and reload or reselect it in game.
The installation guide includes the Windows folder shown in the editor, a check for file extensions, and what to do when your Documents folder is redirected.
Customize alerts
Use a sound together with a visual cue when you want to notice a valuable drop without reading every label. Built-in game alerts use a sound ID and need no separate audio file. Custom alerts reference a sound file that must remain available beside your filter.
You can make important drops more visible with a beam or minimap marker and keep common drops quieter. Preview the result in the item editor, then export again so the file reflects the new settings.
The sound guide explains the difference between built-in and custom alerts and how they combine with color and minimap settings.
