PoE 2 Loot Filter Not Showing Up or Not Working
Most filter problems have one of three causes: the file is in a different folder than the one the game reads, it has the wrong extension, or the game is still using the previous version. Work through the checks below in order.
Updated:
The filter is missing from the list
- Open Options → Game → Item Filter and press the folder button beside the list. It opens the folder the game actually reads.
- Put the .filter file directly into that folder. On Windows it is usually %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2.
- Move the file out of the OnlineFilters subfolder if it ended up there. Players on the official forum report that files placed in it are not listed.
- Check the full file name. It must end in .filter, not .filter.txt. Turn on file name extensions in File Explorer to see the real ending.
- Press the refresh button beside the list and select the filter.
Documents is redirected
When Windows keeps Documents in OneDrive or on another drive, the game folder moves with it, so a file saved to the usual path on drive C is never seen. Always open the folder from the game menu and save the filter there.
In LootBase, choose that same folder as the filter folder. The editor then writes the file and any uploaded sounds to the place the game reads.
Changes do not appear in game
Editing settings in the browser does not change the file on disk. Use the update action in LootBase to write the current settings into the selected .filter, then press refresh in the game menu or select the filter again.
If nothing changes, compare the file name shown in LootBase with the one selected in game. Saving under a new name creates a second file, and the game keeps reading the old one until you pick the new name.
A custom sound does not play
A custom alert points to an audio file by name, so the file has to be in the filter folder next to the .filter. Use Latin letters, digits, hyphens or underscores in the name; .ogg is recommended and .wav and .mp3 are supported.
A volume of 0 exports no sound command at all. Built-in game alerts need no file and are the quickest way to check that sound works for the item.
An item is shown or hidden unexpectedly
The game reads the file from top to bottom and applies the first block that matches the item. In LootBase every tab writes its own section, so open the tab that owns the item and check its Show or Hide state.
An item with a minimum stack size is shown only from that amount; smaller stacks are hidden on purpose. For equipment bases, also check the rarity, item level, quality and socket conditions of the rule.
