LootBase

PoE 2 Loot Filter Syntax Explained

A .filter file is plain text. With LootBase you do not write it by hand, but knowing how a rule reads makes it easier to check an exported file or to understand a filter made by someone else.

Blocks: Show and Hide

A filter is a list of blocks. Each block starts with Show or Hide, continues with the conditions an item must meet and ends with the commands that change how the drop looks and sounds.

The game reads blocks from top to bottom and applies the first one that matches the item, so the order of blocks matters.

Show
BaseType == "Divine Orb"
SetTextColor 255 255 255 255
SetBorderColor 255 255 255 255
SetBackgroundColor 200 0 0 255
SetFontSize 45
PlayAlertSound 6 300
MinimapIcon 0 Red Star
PlayEffect Red

Conditions

BaseType == "Name" matches an item by its exact base name. Several names can share one line, which is how LootBase merges items with identical settings into a single rule.

StackSize >= N limits a rule to stacks of at least that size. Equipment rules can add Rarity, ItemLevel, Quality and Sockets. Every condition in a block has to be true for the block to apply.

Show
BaseType == "Gold"
StackSize >= 500
SetFontSize 36

Hide
BaseType == "Gold"
SetFontSize 18

In this example a stack of 500 or more is shown, and the Hide block right after it catches smaller stacks so they cannot fall through to a later rule.

Appearance

SetTextColor, SetBorderColor and SetBackgroundColor take four numbers from 0 to 255: red, green, blue and opacity. SetFontSize changes the size of the label; LootBase writes a small size for hidden entries.

Sounds, minimap icons and beams

PlayAlertSound takes a built-in sound ID from 1 to 16 and a volume. CustomAlertSound takes a file name in quotes and a volume, and LootBase follows it with DisableDropSoundIfAlertSound so the normal drop sound does not double the alert.

MinimapIcon takes a size, a color and a shape; size 0 is the largest. PlayEffect adds a colored beam over the drop. When you choose no beam in the editor, the line is left out entirely.

How LootBase arranges the file

Every editor tab writes its own section with its own Hide block, so clearing one tab never changes another. Item names in the editor follow your interface language, while the file always uses the official English filter commands and BaseType values.

You can load a .filter saved from LootBase back into the editor and continue from the same settings.
